I agree with the main conclusion that science has focused on dogmatic "a calorie is a calorie" phrases, and ignored the complexities of metabolic function in weight management. However, why haven't rodent models attempted to verify the claim that gaining weight causes overeating? It's not impossible to think that researchers don't do it because they don't think it's viable, but if the whole paradigm could be kicked over with one rodent model, why hasn't this happened? Something I'm missing, or are researchers just being that stubborn? Gary Taub's schtick also seems pretty convincing, but I have been hesitant to jump on the first ship to say "researchers are being dogmatic," without some skepticism.
